5. Reconnect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and make these input tests at the
connectors.
• If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
• If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6.

Test condition
Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.5 V.
Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.5 V.
Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
Transmission range switch Measure the voltage to ground:
in P There should be less than 1 V.
Transmission range switch Measure the voltage to ground:
in any other position than P There should be more than 5 V.
Brake pedal pressed Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.
Brake pedal released Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be no voltage.
Wiper switch (INT or LO) Measure the voltage between the R15
ON and the R4 terminals:
There should be less than 1 V.
Wiper switch OFF Measure the voltage between the R15
and the R4 terminals:
There should be more than 5 V.
Wiper switch (LO or HI) ON Measure the voltage between the R16
and the R4 terminals:
There should be less than 1 V.
Wiper switch OFF Measure the voltage between the R16
and the R4 terminals:
There should be more than 5 V.
Wiper switch (MIST) ON Measure the voltage between the R17
and the R4 terminals:
There should be less than 1 V.
Wiper switch OFF Measure the voltage between the R17
and the R4 terminals:
There should be more than 5 V.
Washer switch ON Measure the voltage between the R18
and the R4 terminals:
There should be less than 1 V.
Washer switch OFF Measure the voltage between the R18
and the R4 terminals:
There should be more than 5 V.
Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not
• Poor ground (G501)
• An open in the wire
