If necessary, connect the system keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the appropriate connectors
at the rear of the CPU chassis.

Power up the CPU and note that the operating system recognizes the new drive. If the new
drive is not listed during the power up display sequence, power down the CPU, reseat the
cable connections and try again. If the system won't recognize the new hard drive when
connected to any of the ribbon cable connectors, abort the installation and order a new hard
drive from GPO.
17.
When the operating system recognizes the new hard drive it can then be configured.
18.
Replace the front and side covers on the CPU case when the new drive is shown to be
operating as desired.
19.
This completes the physical installation of the optional hard drive.
4-2 Configuring the New Hard Drive in the System

Volume Set cannot be created on a partition that contains systme files.
1.
At the Windows 2000 desktop, navigate to Start > Programs > Adminstrative Tools >
Computer Management and select Disk Management.
2.
Note that the Write Signature and Upgrade Disk Wizard that the Disk Administrator recognizes
that a new disk has been connected since the administrator program was last executed. Click
Next.
3.
In the Select Disk to Write Signature window, note that Disk 1 is selected by default. Click
Next.

It is strongly advisable to back up any data on existing hard drives
before proceeding to the next level.
