CNF 003 Changing Host/Computer Name
Section 1: Introduction
This job card provides instructions for properly changing the host / computer name.
Section 2: Prerequisites

Note:
Changing the computer name requires re-establishing its passwords in the domain (if it is a
member of one) and also re-establishing its membership in any workgroups you want it to
remain a member of. Be prepared to take care of these items.

Section 3: Procedure
3-1 Enter Computer Identification
1.
Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
2.
Select the Network Identification tab and click the Properties button.
All computer names must be unique. Having two workstations with the
same hostname can slow workstation response or cause workstations
to be inoperable.
Do not perform this procedure on Workgroup Server. Instead, refer to
SW 011
