8.1 Preparations

Before applying for a license, make preparations to facilitate the application process.

Description
Users who have GTS permission can apply for
licenses in Entitlement Activation
do not have GTS permission, click Permission
Application in the left navigation tree of the ESDP
home page and complete the permission
application.
Users who have ASP or Guest permission can
apply for licenses in Password Activation
Click Register Now on the ESDP home page and
complete related registration information. Then
you are granted the ASP or Guest permission.
ESN is a unique character string that identifies a
piece of equipment. It ensures that software is
licensed to a specified device.
The ESN of the N8500 cluster is the combination
of ESNs of the N8500 clustered NAS engine
enclosures, for example, ESN1, ESN2, ESN3....
Each N8500 clustered NAS engine enclosure has
only one ESN, which is specified on the code bar
in the right of the front of each enclosure, as shown
in Figure 8-1.
Do not use the serial number (SN) of the N8500
clustered NAS engine nodes.
A license authorization certificate is delivered
with a product. It provides such information as
contract No., customer PO, and product version.
