11. Inspect reduction shaft:
A. Inspect reduction shaft for wear or damage. If
O.D. of needle bearing area is less than 21.95 mm
(.864 in.) or 24.95 mm (.982 in.), replace the reduc ­
tion shaft.
12. Inspect countershaft:
A. Inspect countershaft for wear or damage. If O.D.
of inner portion is less than 27.95 mm (1.100 in.) or
71T gear portion is less than 29.95 mm (1.179 in.),
replace the countershaft
13. Inspect differential:
A. Inspect pinion shaft for excessive wear or dam­
age. If O.D. is less than 17.95 mm (.707 in.), replace
the pinion shaft.
B. Measure thickness of pinion liners. If thickness is
less than 0.9 mm (.035 in.), replace the pinion liners.
C. Measure thickness of side gear liners. If thick­
ness is less than 1.1 mm (.043 in.), replace the side
gear liners.
D. Inspect the gear contact condition between spiral
bevel pinion and ring gear.
E. Inspect differential case for wear in side gears
and pinion shaft mating area. Replace the case if
machined surfaces are scored or if the pinion shaft
fits loosely in the bore.
