Cylinder Head Removal and Disassembly
1. Loosen bolts in order as shown and remove cylinder
head assembly.
2. Use a valve spring compressor tool to compress
valve spring. Remove retainer lock. Remove valve
spring retainer, valve spring, valve spring seat and
valve.
NOTE: Keep removed parts in order according to cylin­
der number and intake/exhaust.
3. Use a pliers to remove valve stem seal. DO NOT re-
use stem seals.
Cylinder Head Inspection
1. Before cleaning cylinder head, check for coolant leak ­
age, exhaust leakage, damage and cracks. Clean cylin­
der head, removing all oil, sealant and carbon deposits.
After cleaning oil passage, blow out with compressed air
and check for blockage.
2. Use a straight edge and feeler gauge to measure flat ­
ness. If amount of warpage exceeds limit, correct by
grinding.

NOTE: Together with cylinder block to be assembled,
grinding to within 0.2 mm (.0079 in.) is possible.
