Oil Pump Overhaul (cont'd)
20. Install the oil p u m p (A).
- 1 A p p l y liquid gasket, part No. 08718-0001 or
08718-0003, evenly t o t h e block mating surface
of the oil p u m p and to the inner threads of the
bolt holes.
- 2 Grease the lips of the oil seals and apply oil to
the n e w O-ring (B).
- 3 Install a dowel pins (C), then align the inner
rotor w i t h the crankshaft and install the oil
p u m p .
- 4 Clean the excess grease off the crankshaft and
balancer shaft and check the seals f o r
distortion.
NOTE: Do not install the parts if 5 minutes or
more have elapsed since applying liquid
gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after
r e m o v i n g the old residue.

2 1 . After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before
filling the engine w i t h oil.
22. Install the baffle plate (D).
23. Hold the front balancer shaft w i t h a screwdriver (A),
then install the t i m i n g balancer belt driven pulley
(B).
24. Before installing the balancer driven gear (A) and
the balancer gear case (B), apply m o l y b d e n u m
disulfide (C) to the thrust surfaces of the balancer
gears as shown.
