Evaluation according to the DGS method
– Select the function group GATE A.
– Select the function TOF MODE and set the TOF mea-
suring point to PEAK.
– Select the function group AUTOCAL and calibrate
the USM 36 (see Chapter 5.8 Calibrating the USM
36, page 5-28).

Recording a reference echo and turning the
DGS curve on
To be able to display the required DGS curve, you have
to record the reference echo.
– Select the function group DGS.
– Press one of the selector keys to display the specific
function groups and functions for the DGS.
– Select the function group GATE A.
– Peak the echo of the reference reflector, in this case
the backwall echo from the test object.
– After this, position the gate A on the reference echo.
– Select the function group REF ECHO.
– Select the function RECORD REF and press one of
the selector keys. The recording is confirmed by the
indication (recorded). The status icon A DGS refer-
ence is stored is displayed in the top left corner, next
to the A-scan (see page 0-7).
