5. 16-Gradation Test Print (PG>TYPE=4)
Use a 16-gradation test print to check gradation, fogging, white lines, uneven density between
left and right, and balance of colors.
a. Gradation
If density graduation in 16 gradations is not noted as shown, suspect a fault in the laser system.
b. Fogging
If fogging is noted in the white area of the figure, suspect a fault in the developing system or the
photosensitive drum or wrong adjustment of the laser.
c. White Lines
If white lines are noted in images, suspect a fault in the developing system.
d. Uneven Density between Left and Right
If uneven density is noted between left and right, suspect dirt on the developing roller, dirt on
the butting block, and a fault in the height of the primary charging wire.
You can generate a printout of each color using COPIER>TEST>PG of service
mode and selecting the following: COLOR-Y, COLOR-M, COLOR-C,
COLOR-K.
