3. Support the rear of the chassis with a jack stand.
4. Lift up on the mower deck and install the spacers
and hairpins onto the 4 deck hanger pins (Fig.
1381).

5. Install the mower deck drive belt onto the center
spindle pulley. Refer to: "PTO Drive Belt Installation
(40", 48", 52" and 60" Mower Decks)" on page 8-7 or
"PTO Drive Belt Installation (36" Mower Decks)" on
page 8-9.
6. Check the front-to-rear pitch of the mower deck.
Refer to "Checking the Mower Deck Front-to-Rear
Pitch" on page 8-65.
7. Check the side-to-side height of the mower deck.
Refer to "Checking the Mower Deck Side-to-Side
Height" on page 8-66.
8. Check the Height-of-Cut. Refer to "Matching the
Height-of-Cut" on page 8-67.

Checking the Engine Deck Height

1. Disengage the PTO and set the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Adjust the tire pressure in the rear tires to 12-14 psi
(83-97kPa).
4. Measure engine deck height at location AA (Fig.
1382).
5. Measure engine deck height at location BB (Fig.
1382).
If the heights at locations AA and BB are not the
same, change the tire pressure slightly to make
them the same.
