7.4.3
Address settings
The passive mode address is set using switches S8-6,
S8-7 and S8-8 (see table 7.6). The function of the data
distribution board depends on the selected address.

Applications

7.5.1
Introduction
Using the data distribution board, it is possible to
provide an interface for the control of external
equipment. This section discusses three applications of
interfacing to external equipment.
7.5.2
Speak slowly signaling
The interpreter desks (LBB4120/00) have a speak slowly
mode (see section 4.5.6.12) that interpreters can use to
activate an indicator that signals a speaker to talk slower
(see section 4.4.9). This interpreter desk function must
always be used in combination with the data distribution
board.
In the speak slowly signaling application (see figure 7.5),
the data distribution board is set to address 253. Each
booth contributes to the logical outputs of the board via
the speak slowly key on the interpreter desk
LBB4120/00). The first speak slowly request activates
logical output D00 of the board. The second request
(from a different booth) activates output D01, the third
activates output D02 etc. In case of more than 8 speak
slowly requests, contacts D00 to D07 all are activated.

7.5.3
Help signaling
The interpreter desks (LBB4120/00) have a help mode
(see section 4.5.6.13) that interpreters can use to activate
an indicator that signals that help or assistance is needed
(see section 4.4.10). This interpreter desk function must
always be used in combination with the data distribution
board.
In the help signaling application (see figure 7.6), two
data distribution boards are used set to addresses 254
and 255. Assistance requests coming from booth 1 to 16
activate respectively logical output D00 to D15 on the
board with address 254. Assistance requests coming
from booth 17 to 31 activate respectively logical output
D00 to D14 on the board with address 255.
7.5.4
Digital input/output channel
In the digital input/output channel application
(see figure 7.7), two data distribution boards are used,
one in the active mode and one in the passive mode, to
route digital inputs and outputs through the system.
