Optical network design
27. 1
Introduction
This chapter provides system information about
installing the optical network.
27.2
Limitations
Observe the following limitations when designing the
optical network of the system.
Limitation 1: Control capacity
The optical network may not contain more than
63 nodes (see section 27.3).
Limitation 2: Power capacity
The maximum power that can be supplied by a single
CCU (LBB4100/00) socket is 65 W (see section 27.4).
Limitation 3: Cabling
•
The maximum length of a POF wire is 50 m.
•
The total length of all optical fibers together
(both POF and GOF) in the optical network depends
on the number of nodes in the optical network.
•
The bend radius of optical network cables
(LBB4416/xx) is 25 mm.
•
The minimum coiling radius of optical network
cables (LBB4416/xx) is 100 mm.
See section 27.5 for information about optical network
cabling.

27.3
Control capacity
Each unit in the optical network represents a certain
amount of nodes (see table 27.1). The maximum
number of nodes in the optical network is 63.

Power capacity
27.4.1 Introduction
Each unit in the system consumes a certain amount of
power. The total power consumption of all units in the
optical network may not be higher than the total
supplied power.
27.4.2 Power consumption
See table 27.2 for an overview of the power
consumption of the units in the optical network.
