27.4.3 Power supply
By default, the only unit that can supply power to the
optical network is the CCU (LBB4100/00), see
figure 27.1. The power supplied by the CCU includes
the power supplied to the DCN.

figure 27. 1 : Optical network power supply
If more power is needed, external power supplies must
be used to feed the optical network. The following units
have a provision for connecting external power
supplies:
LBB4410/00 Network Splitter.
LBB4414/00 Fiber Interface.

The amount of Watt provided by an external power
supply is calculated as follows:
Mains
P = Power (W)
50-60Hz
T2.5A 250V
50-60Hz
T2A H 250V
V = DC voltage (V)
I = DC current (A)
Because all the optical network units have built-in
switched mode power supplies, the power consumption
is virtually constant and within a certain range
Mains
independent of the supply voltage V. The lower V is,
the higher I will be.

27.4.4 Overload indication
Each optical network socket of the CCU (LBB4100/00)
has a red LED that lights up to indicate power overload
situations. An overload situation occurs when the
equipment connected to the socket asks for more power
Mains
than can be supplied. Once an overload situation is
detected, the sockets are switched off. As a result, all

units that are connected to the CCU are deactivated. It
takes less than 30 seconds before the sockets are
checked again.
Note
Even if only one of the optical network sockets
has a power overload, both overload LEDs will
be activated an the power will be removed from
both sockets.
