Clean and lubricate the jaw-
type isolating contacts

Lubrication operations must be performed as indicated in the maintenance schedule on page 267.
WARNING! before proceeding with any maintenance operation, it is mandatory to:
• Set the circuit-breaker to the open position and make sure that the springs of the
operating mechanism are discharged.
• Work with the circuit-breaker removed from the fixed part. For removal of the fixed
part see paragraph "Circuit breaker racking-in/racking-out operations" in the document

circuit breakers E2.2, E4.2 and E6.2.
• Disconnect the power circuit and auxiliary circuits and earth the terminals in a visible
way, on both the supply side and load side.
Perform maintenance periodically where grease is already present and if its properties have been impaired
due to the environment.
The safety shutters must be disassembled (only IEC) before cleaning and lubricating the jaw-type
isolating contacts. Information about disassembly is given in document
breakers E1.2 or the document
intervention of a technician ABB.

Clean the jaw-type isolating contacts in the indicated points. Use a laminate thinner such as
Chemma 18 or equivalent if there is a heavy coating of dirt (Figure 168 - IEC for E1.2; Figure 169 - IEC
for E2.2, E4.2 and E6.2).
