Damage/wear → Replace the gear.
8. Check:
Bearing

Oil seal

Damage/wear → Replace the defective
part(s).

ASSEMBLING THE STARTER MOTOR

1. Install:
Brush holder "1"

2. Install:
Armature "2"
G
O-ring "3"
New
G
TIP
Align the tab "a" on the brush seat with the slot
"b" in the starter motor yoke.

Starter motor yoke "1"
G
O-ring "2"
New
G
Starter motor front cover "3"
G
Starter motor rear cover "4"
G
Starter motor assembling bolts "5"
G
Starter motor assembling bolt
3.4 Nm (0.34 m·kgf, 2.5 ft·lbf)
TIP
Align the match marks "a" on the starter motor
yoke with the match marks "b" on the starter mo-
tor front and rear covers.

2. Connect:
