REMOVING THE PICKUP ROTOR

1. Remove:
Pickup rotor cover "1"

Pickup rotor cover gasket
G
TIP
Loosen each bolt 1/4 of a turn at a time, in stag-
es and in a crisscross pattern. After all of the
bolts are fully loosened, remove them.
2. Remove:
Pickup rotor bolt "1"
G
Washer "2"
G
Pickup rotor "3"
G
TIP
While holding the pickup rotor "3" with the cam-
shaft wrench "4", loosen the pickup rotor bolt.

INSTALLING THE PICKUP ROTOR

1. Install:
Pickup rotor "1"
G
Washer
G
Pickup rotor bolt
G
TIP
When installing the pickup rotor, align the
groove "a" in the crankshaft sprocket with the
projection "b" in the pickup rotor.

2. Tighten:
Pickup rotor bolt "1"
G
Pickup rotor bolt
35 Nm (3.5 m·kgf, 25 ft·lbf)
TIP
While holding the pickup rotor "2" with the cam-
shaft wrench "3", tighten the pickup rotor bolt.

3. Apply:
Sealant
G
(onto the crankshaft position sensor lead
grommet)
Yamaha bond No. 1215
