Press the pen tip down on the surface. This will open the valve allowing the alodine to
reach the applicator tip. A new unit will charge in 15-30 seconds. When the alodine just
wets the tip, release the downward pressure. The unit is now ready for use
(i)
Apply the first coat of alodine to the surface in firm, smooth, and even strokes. Overlap
each stroke 50 percent to make sure full coverage. Do not puddle. Do not rinse. Do
not wipe.
CAUTION:

Let the first application of alodine to dry.
(k)
Apply a second application of alodine at a 90-degree angle to the first application within 5
minutes after the first application dries. Do not puddle. Do not rinse. Do not wipe.
(l)
Let the second application of alodine to dry.
(m) Remove masking tape from areas not treated.

Repair of Connector and Related Parts (Subtask 33-30-15-300-004-A01)
(1)
Replace the damaged electrical contacts (90, IPL Figure 1) in the connector (85) as follows:
(a)
Note the locations and cut MIL-T-43435, Type II, Finish E lacing tape or the ties on
electrical wires as required.
(b)
Use an M81969/14-03 extraction/insertion tool to remove the electrical contacts (90)
from the rear of connector (85).
(c)
Cut the electrical wire at base of the electrical contacts (90). Discard the electrical
contacts (90).
(d)
Strip 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) insulation from end of the electrical wire(s).
(e)
Use an M22520/1-01 crimping tool with an M22520/1-02 positioner to install new
electrical contacts (90) on the electrical wire(s).
(f)
Install the electrical contacts (90) in the connector (85).
(g)
Tie MIL-T-43435, Type II, Finish E lacing tape over tubing on the electrical wires as
shown in Figure 6002.
(2)
Repair the damaged lens lanyard (50, IPL Figure 1) and terminals (62) as follows:
(a)
The final length of lens lanyard (50), measured between centers of terminal (62) eyelets,
must be 2.0 ± 0.10 inch (51 ± 2.5 mm).
(b)
Replace the lens lanyard with W1928 wire braded mesh.
(c)
Strip 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) insulation from the ends of the new W1928 wire braded mesh.
(d)
Put two pieces of M23053/5-105-0 heat shrink tubing over the lens lanyard.
NOTE:
(e)
Use a 59250 crimping tool to install two new terminals (62) on each end of the new
lens lanyard.
(f)
Use a heat gun to shrink tubing around terminal ends.
(g)
Install the new lens lanyard (50). Refer to ASSEMBLY (PGBLK 33-30-15-7000) for details.
(3)
Replace the damaged terminals (100) and the tubing (TU420) as follows:
(a)
Cut MIL-T-43435, Type II, Finish E lacing tape or ties on the electrical wires as required.

Align terminal ends 180 degrees opposite each before crimping.
