Problem verification:
1. Do
the ECMIPCM
Reset Pro-
cedure.
2.
Start
the engine. Hold
the
engine
at
3,000
rpm
with
no
load
(in
Park or neutral) until
the radiator fan comes on.
3.
Check the Primary H02S
(Sensor 1) output voltage with
the scan tool during decelera-
tion using completely closed
throttle.

Intermittent failure, system is OK
Does the voltage stay at 1.5 V
NO
at this time. Check for poor con-
nections or loose wires at C111
or more?
(Primary H02S. Sensor 1) and at

YES
tho ECM/PCM.
Check for an open in the Primary
H02S:
1.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the Primary H02S
(Sensor
1) connector.
3.
Connect the Primary H02S
(Sensor 1) 4P connector termi-
nals No.1 and No.2 with a
jumper wire.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (10.

Check the Primary H02S
(Sensor
1) output voltage with
the scan tool.

Is there 1.5 V or more?

Replace the Primary
H02S.

YES
Check for an open in the wire
IPH02S
line):
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Connect ECM/PCM connector
terminals C16 and C18 with a
jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON
(II).
4. Check
the
Primary H02S
(Sensor
1) output voltage with
the scan tool.

Repair open in the wire between

Is there 1.5 Vor more?

Substitute a known·good ECMI
PCM and recheck. If symptom

indication goes away, r.pace the
original ECM/PCM.
