20 OPTIONAL BOARD
20.2 VGS-1
Storing the GPS Data (GPS Data Storage)
GPS Data Storage can be used to store the GPS data.
The GPS data with a maximum of 10,752 Messages (3,584 blocks) can be stored. If data is written in all memories, the
oldest memory is overwritten. However, the GPS data with a maximum of 12,288 Messages (4,096 blocks) can be stored
while Latest Received Message Stack is disabled.
The GPS data stored in the VGS-1 can be sent from the transceiver using wireless communication and be transfered to a
PC.
Storing the GPS Data
The transceiver stores the GPS data in the VGS-1 at the intervals configured for GPS Storage Interval.
GPS Data Storage and GPS Storage Interval can be configured using KPG-111D/ DN.
Note
• The GPS data is written to the VGS-1 if the transceiver receives valid data from the GPS receiver unit.
• The GPS data cannot be stored if Auto Recording Mode, Voice Memo Mode, Auto Reply Message Mode or Playback Mode is
activated.
Sending and Transferring the GPS Data
Sending the GPS data using wireless communication
The transceiver sends the GPS data stored in the VGS-1 to the base station upon the receipt of a request message for
the GPS data which is sent from a base station using FleetSync or the NXDN air protocol.
Note
While the transceiver is sending the GPS Data using wireless communication, GPS data will not be stored in the VGS-1, even if the
transceiver receives new GPS data from a GPS unit.
Transferring the GPS data to a PC
To transfer the GPS data to a PC, the transceiver and the GPS must be connected by a serial cable.
The transceiver transfers the GPS data stored in the VGS-1 to the PC upon the receipt of a request message for the
GPS data which is sent from a PC using a PC command of FleetSync or NXDN.
Note
• To transfer the GPS data to a PC, the GPS data request must be controlled using a PC application. Also, Base Station Settings must
be configured using KPG-111D/ DN.
• While the transceiver is transferring GPS data using a PC command, the new GPS data will not be stored in the VGS-1, even if the
transceiver receives new GPS data from a GPS receiver unit.
