Functionality

The ACBMSCBR function is designed to provide the monitoring functionality of circuit breakers (CB).
The monitoring functionality is evaluated based on certain feedback inputs which can either be
electrical or mechanical in nature.
The electrical feedbacks can be:
Breaker Current
Load Voltage
Mechanical feedback is taken from CB auxiliary contacts:
NO (Normally Open (52a)) only
NC (Normally Closed (52b)) only
NO and NC (52a and 52b)
Based on the available feedback signals, the function evaluates multiple electrical and mechanical
parameters which are made available as outputs of the function.
1.
Based on the electrical feedbacks, the evaluated or detected electrical parameters are:
2.
Similarly, based on the mechanical feedbacks, the evaluated or detected mechanical
parameters are:
262
In the default configuration, connecting no signals to the hardware binary inputs for
spring charge levels results in CBOPCAP3P permanently indicating full for all three
phases (integer value 263172).
Arcing time and electrical interruption time (time from breaker trip command till arc
extinction)
Pre-strike angle and electrical making time (time from breaker close command till breaker
current inception)
Electrical status of circuit breaker (conducting or isolating)
Electrical status of load
Re-strike/re-ignition and the respective count over operations
Re-strike/re-ignition correction
Electrical adaptation based on previous closing operation error
Breaker electrical and mechanical scatter correction
Instantaneous, peak and RMS (Root Mean Square) currents at the instant of current
interruption
Overcurrent detection
Inrush current peak during energization
Interrupter wear (contact ablation) for open operations
Phase shift between the reference source and feedback load voltage
Mechanical status of circuit breaker
Mechanical opening time which includes,
