ip lisp use-petr

To configure a Cisco NX-OS device to use an IPv4 LISP Proxy Egress Tunnel Router (PETR), use the
ip lisp use-petr command. To remove the use of a LISP PETR, use the no form of this command.

Usage Guidelines
Router (PETR) services. When the use of PETR services is enabled, instead of natively forwarding
packets destined to non-LISP sites, these packets are LISP-encapsulated and forwarded to the PETR,
where these packets are then deencapsulated and forwarded natively toward the non-LISP destination.
An ITR or PITR can be configured to use PETR services.
PETR services may be necessary in several cases. For example, by default when a LISP sites forwards
packets to a non-LISP site natively (not LISP encapsulated), the source IP address of the packet is that
of a site endpoint identifier (EID). If the provider side of the access network is configured with strict
unicast reverse path forwarding (uRPF), it considers these packets to be spoofed and drops them because
EIDs are not advertised in the provider default free zone (DFZ). In this case, instead of natively
forwarding packets destined to non-LISP sites, the ITR encapsulates these packets using the site locator
as the source address and the PETR as the destination address. Packets destined for LISP sites follow
normal LISP forwarding processes and are sent directly to the destination ETR.
Because LISP supports mixed protocol encapsulations, the locator specified for the PETR can either be
