Determine the Printing Mode
Microsoft Print Modes
The controller supports the following Microsoft print services modes:
Peer to Peer (NetBIOS on TCP/IP and IPX/SPX)
LPR/LPD on TCP/IP, provided Microsoft TCP/IP printing services are
installed on the client workstation
Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) with an IPP port configured on the
client workstation.
Novell Print Modes
The controller supports the following Novell NetWare printing modes:
NetWare 4.x Bindery mode PSERVER or RPRINTER
NetWare 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x NDS mode PSERVER or NPRINTER
NetWare NDPS printer agent (using the TOSHIBA NLM-based
gateway)
Unix Print Modes
The controller supports LPR/LPD printing for the Unix Sun Solaris, HP-
UX, IBM AIX, OpenUnix/SCO, and Linux environments, providing you
install the TOSHIBA filters.
Macintosh Print Mode
The controller supports the following Macintosh printing modes:
AppleTalk
LPR/LPD (over TCP/IP only)
Choose a Device Naming Convention
Device Name
Decide on a unique name for the device, such as the host name. Both
Microsoft and Macintosh printing, and controller software updates
require a device name.
By default, the Microsoft Computer name is set to GL<MAC Address>,
where MAC Address is the unique Media Access Control address of the
NIC installed in the controller. You may rename the device to retain
