Connecting to a CSU/DSU
In most cases you connect the NIC to a CSU/DSU by using a straight-through
cable. If the CSU/DSU can provide a clock, select external clock (the default
value) in the physical configuration section in Voyager. If the CSU/DSU
cannot supply a clock, select internal clock and set the clock speed in
Voyager.
Connecting to Another Appliance
You can directly connect two appliances by using a HSSI crossover (null-
modem) cable with HSSI connectors at both ends. Set clocking to internal in
both appliances and make the clock speeds identical in the two appliances.
Null-Modem Cable
Use a null-modem cable when directly connecting a console to an IP500
Series appliance.
