VSI-MF
The VSI design employs DC-link capacitors and provides a switched voltage waveform. As a
result of the multilevel topology, the drive produces an optimum number of switching levels, ie,
9 levels, phase to phase. The resulting output waveform permits the application of standard
motors without decreasing the reliability and efficiency of the motor.

IGCT
Integrated gate-commutated thyristors (IGCT) are used as switching devices in the inverter
section of the phase converter units. IGCTs combine fast switching capabilities with low losses
and enable a drive design with a low parts count.
