b) In the Back Reflection Threshold field, enter the desired absolute back reflection threshold value (in
dB). The range is from -50 to 0 dB. The default value is -30.

Check the Prevent Circuit Creation on Span with Outstanding OTDR Alarms check box to prevent the
circuit creation or circuit reroute on a span that has OTDR alarms.
Step 9
Check the Prevent Circuit Creation on Span Never Scanned check box to raise the
OTDR-SCAN-NOT-COMPLETED alarm on a span that has not gone through OTDR scan in TX direction.
Step 10
Click Apply.
Step 11
Return to your originating procedure (NTP).

In the node view, click Provisioning > WDM-ANS > OTDR > Side.
Step 2
Select the port to be configured for the OTDR scan from the OTDR Position drop-down list.

Equipment Insertion Loss for OTDR (Display only) Displays the sum of insertion loss caused by the
amplifiers and patchcords for OTDR port in each direction.
The insertion loss is also caused by the span loss on the fiber between the two nodes.
Step 4
In the Config tab, for each sector, CTC displays a table with the default values for the following columns:
• Loss Sensitivity (dB)
The OTDR Position drop-down list displays two PPM port listing for each TNCS-O and TNCS-2O
card in the node. The list also shows the side to which the port is connected, the shelf, the slot and
port numbers of the card. The side is shown on the list, only if the port is connected to a side.
