Dynamic Service Policy Modifications
Dynamic service policy modifications enable the Intelligent Service Gateway (ISG) to make automatic
changes to services and QoS policy parameters.
This chapter describes parameterized services and contains the following topics:

Parameterized Services

Parameterized services enable the Cisco 10000 series router, acting as the ISG, to create and apply
dynamic service policies to subscriber sessions. Dynamic policies make it possible to deploy consistent,
tailored, and secure user services in the network that are triggered by the subscriber or the service.
A dynamic service policy is a QoS policy-map that the ISG constructs based on the decision RADIUS
makes from the ANCP-signaled line rate. The ISG uses a copy of the original service policy configured
on the ISG as a template for constructing the dynamic service policy. RADIUS also communicates
service and parameter changes to the ISG to manipulate QoS policies at the class and action levels.
Traffic classification mechanisms, such as access control lists (ACLs) and class-maps, are static
Note
configurations that you must configure on the ISG separately from the policy-maps that specify the QoS
actions to perform on the traffic classes. Parameterized services and QoS settings from RADIUS do not
affect ACL and class-map configurations.
