17-3 Operation

Synchronous Recording
1
Settings prior to recording
Insert a cartridge in each recorder, and perform any of the following settings that are
necessary for each individual recorder and channel expansion unit.
• Channel mode (BCM)
• Input range (RANGE)
• Input DC offset (OFFSET)
!
CAUTION
• For synchronous recording in the pre-trigger mode is not supported. Set the digital
switch PTRG OFF/ON on the rear panel to OFF (upper position) during synchronizing
mode.
• As the setting time of the slave is the same as the master's value, be sure to input the
IRIG-B timecode signal to the master.
2
Selecting the tape speed
To select the tape speed, press the SPEED key of the master. The tape speed of the slave
follows the master's setting.
!
CAUTION
Master operation does not follow slave operation.
3
ADDRESS setting
When recording starts in the synchronizing mode, the tape ADDRESSes of each
recorder are automatically reset to zero, and the slave operates in sync with the master
until the recording stops. Therefore, the corresponding positions on both tapes are
recorded with the same address.
4
ID number
• The ID numbers of all units are incremented uniformly when the master's ID key is
pressed.
Note
If the master's ID number differs from that of the slave, the ID numbers of the
synchronous data recorded on the tapes by synchronous recording will also differ.
Therefore, set the master and slave to the same ID number, start synchronous recording
from the start of both tapes or from areas with the same ID number (overwrite).
5
Starting recording
When the master enters the REC mode, the slave follows to perform synchronous
recording. The master's real-time clock value is set to the slave each time the REC
mode starts.
The REC, STOP, E-E, REC-PAUSE, FWD, FF, REW and ID number search transport
modes follow the master's settings.
!
CAUTION
• Master operation does not follow slave operation.
• Continue synchronized recording longer than 00H00M05S of the ADDRESS
indication.
