POLLING
Entering Passcodes
This number is used for polling security. Enter the fax number of the fax machine you want to allow to poll your fax
machine. You can enter up to 10 phone numbers of 20 digits each.
Enter passcodes with a user program. (See page Appendix-13)
Because it is used for polling security, confirm that you have entered the fax number for your fax machine correctly.
Entering Your Fax Number
The fax number of your fax machine is used for polling security. You enter this number and it is compared with the list of
passcodes on fax machines you want to poll. If your fax number matches one of the passcodes, polling can occur.
The fax number for your fax machine is set with a user program. (See page Appendix-19)
Inform the person creating passcodes on the fax machine you want to poll of your fax number.
Entering ID Numbers
This number is used for polling security. You can use this number only with other SHARP fax machines (certain models
only). You enter the ID number and it is compared with the system number of fax machines that want to allow to poll your
fax machine. You can enter up to ten 4-digit ID numbers.
ID numbers are set with a user program. (See page Appendix-14)
First confirm the system number of the other fax machine(s).
Entering System Numbers
This number is used for polling security. You can use this number only with other SHARP fax machines (certain models
only). Enter a 4-digit number (0000 to 9999). When you poll another fax machine, the other fax machine compares your
system number with the ID numbers entered on the other fax machine. If the numbers match polling is permitted. System
numbers are set with a user program. (See page Appendix-15)
Inform the person creating passcodes on the fax machine you want to poll of your system number.
You can print out entered passcodes, fax numbers, ID numbers, and system numbers. (See page 5-5)
