About Memory Send Mode
If the MEMORY indicator is lit, the fax machine is in memory mode. When this
is the case, originals are scanned into memory, you can dial a fax number and
send the originals.
Selecting Memory Mode
Check the MEMORY indicator. If it is not lit, press the

MEMORY key.
The MEMORY indicator lights up.
While sending a fax in memory mode, you can reserve
the next fax transmission. (See pages 2-11, 3-40)
Note
When memory becomes full during scanning, the
"MEMORY FULL" message is displayed. Press "1"
to display for 5 seconds the number of scanned pages
and the number of pages that could not be scanned
must be returned to the SPF. The originals that were
scanned are transmitted. Confirm the number of
originals returned to the SPF and when there is free
space in memory, perform another sending operation.
Press "2" to cancel sending. The original that was
being scanned is erased from memory.
If a misfeed occurs in the SPF while scanning a page
into memory, refer to the "MISFEED REMOVAL"
section of the copier operation manual, follow the
displayed messages, and retry the scan operation.
The number of originals that can accumulate in
memory depends on the sending conditions and on
how much memory is installed in your machine. (See
page 2-17)
A fax will not transmit from memory if you are sending
in manual mode or using on-hook dialling. (The fax
machine automatically reverts to direct mode.)
Selecting Direct Mode

Check the MEMORY indicator. If it is lit, press the
MEMORY key.
The MEMORY indicator goes out.
If you are sending a fax in manual mode or using on-
hook dialling, the fax machine automatically reverts

In this mode if you perform a broadcast operation,
etc. to send a fax to multiple recipients, the fax
machine automatically changes to memory mode.
Even if memory is full, you can send faxes in direct
mode.
When sending a fax in direct mode, you cannot
prepare to send another fax (dual access).
You cannot use the recall function in direct mode.
You cannot use the rotation sending function in direct
mode.
