Basic mode and extended mode
A MELSEC-Q series SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module has the following modes: basic mode
and extended mode.
The module is in the extended mode at the factory default.
The module with a version 1.32J or later can operate in the basic mode by initializing it.
The advantage of each mode is described below:

There are the following restrictions to operate a MELSEC-Q series SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model
module in the basic mode.
• Settings will no longer be transferred to "/ROM." To use "Update Module," set "CF" as a transfer destination.
• Settings of the IP address setting function and license registration function are transferred to a destination selected in the
"Update Module" screen. Ensure to set "CF" as a transfer destination in the "Update Module" screen in advance.
When initializing a SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module
Install the SECS/GEM communication software and register a license by the following procedure:

Transfer corresponding backup files stored in an installation CD to the "/ROM" folder of a SECS/GEM communication
software pre-installed model module or under the folder.

MELSEC iQ-R series (RD55UP12-V with version 1.35M or later)
*1 When a module is in the basic mode, transferring a backup file is not required. Register a license in a CF card again.

Install the SECS/GEM communication software.

Advantage
The Setting/monitoring tools for the C Controller module (SW3PVC-CCPU) can be used.
Use the basic mode in any of the following cases:
• Only the Setting/monitoring tools for the C Controller module (SW3PVC-CCPU) is used.
• CIMOPERATOR manufactured by NIPPON DENNO Co.,Ltd. was used in the past.
The Setting/monitoring tools for the C Controller module Version 4 (SW4PVC-CCPU) can be used.
SW4PVC-CCPU is an upgraded version of SW3PVC-CCPU. Advanced settings and diagnostics are available.
