Updating SECS/GEM Communication Software
Pre-installed Model Module

MELSEC iQ-R series
From the setting tool, connect to the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module, and then update the
setting file stored on the standard ROM or memory card.
If the file is updated, the setting tool is used to apply the configured content to the SECS/GEM communication software.
Precautions
• Always save the project before using this function.
• Set the same location (standard ROM or memory card) for the application installation destination, setting file update
destination, and the license registration destination.
• When the application was installed on the standard ROM and memory card, the application on the memory card runs.
• If a C Controller module is operating in the basic mode, select the memory card as the transfer destination.
• A memory card is required for a MELSEC-Q series SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module. Some
settings will be transferred to the memory card even when setting ROM as a transfer destination.
• Do not switch the power supply from OFF to ON while the SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module
is updating. Otherwise, the internal file system may be corrupted.
• Do not update a SECS/GEM communication software pre-installed model module whose module type is different from the
setting tool. Otherwise, the module may not operate properly.
■If the model type of the SECS/GEM communication software is unknown
The model type information of the SECS/GEM communication software is registered in the event history at the start of a
module.
Check the model type information from an event of "Source," which is shown as below.
