Operation

A.

General Operation

The HYPER 120-03 fan is a dual speed brushless electric fan 28 VDC - 32 A - 12800 ± 300 RPM / 9 ±
1,5 A - 8300 ± 300 RPM.
The movement of the impeller located in the fan generates the airflow.
B.

Detailed Operation

(1)
Motor working principle
The fan motor is a synchronous motor that converts the supplied electrical energy into
mechanical energy by angular displacement of the rotor.
(2)
Start/stop operations
The motor starts when the 0V is applied to the fan.
The motor stops when there is no 0 V applied to the fan. The stop command must be applied
for 100 ms minimum.
(3)
Low speed / high speed operations
The speed is selected by the opening (low) or closure (high) of an internal relay. This relay
is operated by an external signal.
In low speed or in high speed, the nominal speed is reached in 5 s maximum.
(4)
Internal Protections
The electronic devices do the protections that fallow:
(a)
Underspeed protection
The fan is automatically stopped when an underspeed is detected for more than 4 ± 1,5 s.
The under speed detection level is 4000 +0/-20 % rpm, it is the same for low speed and
for high speed. If the fan is stopped after an underspeed occurs, it is necessary to reset
the 28-V power supply to start the motor again.
(b)
Motor winding overheat-protection
The motor stops if the temperature of the winding is more than 160 +/- 5 °C (311 to 329
°F). If this occurs, it is necessary to reset the 28 V power supply to start the motor again.
(c)
Electronic boards overheat-protection
The motor stops if the temperature of the electronic boards is more than 100 °C (212 °F).
If this occurs, it is necessary to reset the 28 V power supply to start the motor again.
