Clinical Notes
A reading may take up to 3 minutes and the cuff will become tight. Occasionally the
cuff may need to inflate twice if a pressure reading has not been obtained. A
patient may press the START or Power button to stop automatic inflation at any
time, if the cuff becomes too tight.
Bars on the blood pressure monitor display cuff inflation or deflation progress. The
bars will increase/rise to indicate inflation, and decrease to indicate deflation. The
following example describes the indicators on the A&D monitor:
If a retest is needed, or an error message is displayed on the blood pressure moni-
tor, check that the hose is fully inserted into the blood pressure monitor. Allow at
least five minutes between measurements on the same person.
A&D Monitor - If the small cuff will be used, or has been used, make sure to follow
all manufacturer instructions. If a monitor has been adjusted for a small cuff,
remember to log the change and label the blood pressure unit paired with the
small cuff.
A&D Monitor - To reset the saved inflation pressure of the monitor, remove batter-
ies. With the batteries removed, press the Start button. Reinsert the batteries.
If other Bluetooth® receivers are operating nearby (mobile phones, computers, tab-
lets), or may be used by visitors and family members, ensure that the operators of
these Bluetooth® devices do not attempt to pair with the blood pressure monitor or
any other monitoring equipment.

Taking Weight Measurements

Different scale types may be used with the Genesis Touch System. In general, all
scales operate similarly, as noted below:

It is recommended to take a blood pressure reading in the same position, on the
same arm, consistently.
Keep the blood pressure monitor near the Genesis Touch.
As a general practice, new batteries should be used prior to monitor assignment
to a new patient.
Remove batteries from a blood pressure monitor after it has been unassigned.
When storing the monitor, ensure the hose is not kinked, compressed or
snagged.
