The blood pressure cuff becomes too
tight, is there any way to relieve the
pressure during a test?
Do I have the correct cuff size?
Does the HomMed scale charge when
it is plugged in? May I plug in the
HomMed scale and use battery power
at the same time?
The HomMed scale doesn't display a
reading on the monitor.
During a Vitals Now session, the
monitor displays lbs/kg, but never
shows a weight.

Make sure the cuff is applied properly, and that the index
arrow on the cuff points to the correct cuff size (a solid bar
on the cuff), as shown in this example, from the A&D User
Manual:
For a Welch Allyn device, ensure the index arrow points
within the double-sided arrow marked with OK.
If the cuff becomes too tight, press the Power button (for a
Welch Allyn device) or the Start button (for an A&D device),
to pause inflation
For an A&D device, you may reset the inflation level to a
factory default setting by removing the batteries. With the
batteries removed, press the Start button to discharge any
residual power. Reinsert the batteries. Confirm that the
patient is able to take a reading.
As a general practice, new batteries should be used prior to
monitor assignment to a new patient. Refer to the
manufacturer user manual for additional instructions on
using the blood pressure monitor.
The HomMed weight scale does NOT charge while plugged
in. It is recommended that the scale is operated either on
battery power, or on AC power, but not both simultaneously.
When a vital sign measurement is first taken with the
HomMed scale, a patient should step on the scale after the
monitor prompts the patient to do so.
First make sure that the correct wireless scale is paired with
the monitor. To verify a paired scale, check that the numbers
after "HWS" in the scale entry from the Peripherals menu,
match the serial number on the back of the scale. Consult
the Peripherals and Pairing section for help.
To resolve, with a paired scale:
If the scale is battery-powered, remove all of the batteries
in the wireless scale and let the scale rest for 10 seconds
without batteries. Put the batteries back into the scale.
Perform a Vitals Now session, and step on the scale after the
monitor prompts the patient to do so. Verify a reading can
be obtained.
If the scale is powered by AC power, or an AC adapter is
available, plug in the scale and listen for a beep to confirm
the scale is receiving power. Perform a Vitals Now session,
and step on the scale after the monitor prompts the patient
to do so. Verify a reading can be obtained.
If the scale still does not seem to work, contact customer
service and mention that you have attempted the steps
above.
