4. Slide the cuff up the arm over your elbow. There should be about a two-finger

Taking a Blood Pressure Reading
After a patient has placed their cuff, they are ready to continue with taking their
vital signs measurement.
A patient should be relaxed, not talking, and sitting comfortably with their palm up
and their arm resting on a table. Instruct a patient to empty their bladder prior to
taking vital sign measurements. A patient's back and feet should be supported. The
patient's legs should not be crossed.
After the START or Power button is pressed, the blood pressure unit lights up, indi-
cating it has received power. The cuff begins to inflate, and the Genesis Touch
screen shows a message that it is Acquiring data, please wait...
When a blood pressure reading has been obtained, the cuff deflates and results
screen appears. Patients may then remove the blood pressure cuff.

range marked on the cuff with a double-sided arrow. Wrap the cuff around the
arm with the artery index marker located over the brachial artery and with the
lower edge of the cuff 2.5 cm above the bend in the elbow.

A&D Monitor - Patients will press the blue, circular START
button, on an A&D blood pressure unit (shown on the left).
Patients should NOT hold this button down longer than a
