Taking Blood Oxygen Measurements

Pulse oximeters should be fully charged, or loaded with new batteries prior to
assignment with a patient.
As shown here, a blue light appears while the Contec oximeter is
plugged in, to indicate a full charge. Remove the oximeter from
the charger when this light appears. Do NOT over charge. Only
use the original manufacturer-supplied charging cable.
There is no need to charge a pulse oximeter while at a patient
site unless a low battery is indicated by the device or LifeStream.
Genesis Touch oximeters should NOT be used for continuous monitoring.
When a patient is instructed to take their blood oxygen measurements:

About Smart Scheduled Vitals: Up to two hours prior to a scheduled reading,
selecting all vitals activates Smart Scheduled Vitals, which prompts only for the
next scheduled measurements and questions. Additionally, Genesis Touch will
not prompt the patient to do another reading at the scheduled time. The
readings collected in this manner also count as the scheduled reading in
LifeStream.
In other cases, a patient may skip collection of any measurement, by tapping a
highlighted Vital Sign to deselect it. Tap again to select, as needed.
