Replacement (Cylinder head removal not required)

procedure.
The procedure shown below applies when using the in-
c a r v a l v e s p r i n g c o m p r e s s o r ( S n a p - o n Y A 8 8 4 5 w i t h
YA8845 2A7l8" attachment).

Alway wear approved eye protection when
using the in-car valve spring compressol.
1. Turn the crankshaft so that the No.
'l and the No. 4
pistons are at top dead center (TDC).
2.
Remove the cylinder head cover and the rocker arm
assemoty.

W h e n r e m o v i n g o r i n s t a l l i n g t h e r o c k e r a r m
a s s e m b l y , d o n o t r e m o v e t h e c a m s h a f t h o l d e r
b o l t s . T h e b o l t s w i l l k e e p t h e h o l d e r s , s p r i n g s
and rocker arms on the shaft.
Refer to page 6-46 when installing the cylinder
head cover.
Remove the fuel injectors and the wire harness.
Uslng the 8 mm bolts supplied with the tool, mount
t h e t w o u p r i g h t s t o t h e c y l i n d e r h e a d a t t h e e n d
c a m s h a l t h o l d e r s . T h e u p r i g h t s f i t o v e r t h e c a m -
shaft as shown.

Select the 7/8 in diameter short compressor attach-
ment, and fasten the attachment to the No. 4 hole of
the lever arm with the speed pin supplied.
lnsert an air adaptor into the spark plug hole. Pump
air into the cylinder to keep the valve closed while
compressing springs and removing the valve keep-
e r s .
Position the lever arm under lhe cross shaft so the
lever is perpendicular to the shaft and the compres-
sor attachment rests on top of the retainer for the
spring being compressed. Use the front position
slot on the lever as shown.
