6. Screw in the filler cap/dipstick securely.
3. AIR CLEANER
CLEANING
A dirty air filter restricts air flow to the carburetor, reducing engine
performance. If you operate the engine in very dusty areas, clean the
air filter after each refueling.
NOTICE
Operating the engine without an air cleaner element or with a
damaged air cleaner element will allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear. This type of damage is not covered by the
Distributor's Limited Warranty.
1. Remove the air cleaner cover, and remove the air cleaner
element.
2. Carefully check the air cleaner element for holes or tears, and
replace if damaged.
3. Clean the air cleaner element in warm soapy water, rinse, and
allow it to dry thoroughly. Or, clean in nonflammable solvent and
allow it to dry.
4. Dip the air filter in clean engine oil, then squeeze out all excess
oil. The engine will be hard to start or will smoke when started if
too much oil is left in the foam.
5. Wipe dirt from the air cleaner base and cover using a moist rag.
Be careful to prevent dirt from entering the carburetor.
6. Reinstall the air filter and air filter cover.
