Troubleshooting
Solution
If you use a satellite set..top box with a Serial Control cable:
• Make sure the set-top box IS turned on.
• Is the Senal Control cable plugged mto the upper senal Jack on the back of the
SVR Recorder?
• Make sure that the Senal Control cable IS connected to the "low speed data" Jack on
the back of the satellite set-top box.
• Unplug the satellite set-top box from the wall, then plug It back m.
If you are usmg an RCA satellite set-top box, use your RCA set-top box's remote
control to specify low speed data. To do thIS, press the MENU button on the RCA set-
top box's remote -> Options -> System Options -> Data Port -> Low Speed
Data.
If you use a satellite set..top box with an IR Control cable:
• Make sure the set-top box IS turned on.
• Is the IR Control cable plugged mto the lower IR Jack on the back of the
SVR Recorder, not the cable box.
• Is the IR EmItter posItioned so that It covers the IR wmdow on your satellite box?
• Old you select a workmg code from the list of codes for your satellite box dunng
Gmded Setup? To venfy thIS, use the TiVo button to go to TiVo Central ->
Messages & Setup -> Cable/Satellite Box -> Control Cable Setup. Once
you find a code that changes your channels, press the SELECT button on the
Remote Control to choose that code.
