• If you use a cordless telephone, fax machine, or computer modem connected to the
same line, ensure that "Phone avail. detection" is set to off.
• It could be that you have too much line noise to make a connection. The Recorder
ships with a 50' phone cord. Try a shorter cord, or you can buy a line noise .filter at
your local electronics store.
My Recorder was working, but now the screen is frozen.
• First. try to reset your Recorder. Reach around the back right side of the unit and
disconnect the power cord. Wait fifteen seconds, then re-insert it. You will see the
Welcome to TiVo screen and the system will restart within about 45 seconds.
I see a blue screen with a Frowning TiVo in the upper left comer (after resetting or
changing channels).
• First
try
the troubleshooting tips on the screen.
• If you see this screen after channel changes. the Recorder is having trouble tuning
to the channel. First
try
changing to several different channels. and then changing
back. If multiple channel changes don't work.
try
resetting your Recorder. Reach
around the back right side of the unit and disconnect the power cord. Wait fifteen
seconds. then re-insert it.
• Go to Messages and Setup and choose Cable/Satellite Box, then Connection to
Recorder. Double check that you have selected the same cable on this screen that
you used to connect the satellite or cable box to the Recorder.
• Your cable company may be having trouble transmitting a particular channel.
• Perhaps you do not actually receive this channel from your cable or satellite
company? If not, you may want to deselect the channel from the Channels You
Watch screen. To do this, go to Messages &Setup and choose Customized

Another method of resetting the
Reeorder is to choose Factory settings
from the Messages and setup screen, then
choose Restart the Recorder. Take care
not to choose Fun System Reset.
