XILON HANDHELD TOOL - USER GUIDE
Features and Appearance
EN2B-0214GE51 R0503
Using XILON as a start-up tool, it thus is possible to test the operation and proper
wiring of the field devices (actuators and sensors) before the entire L
system is up and running. The technician can e.g. open a valve, drive a motor,
switch ON a relay, check the proper functioning of a temperature sensor, etc.
NOTE: The functionality depends on the installed hardware, e.g. if the hardware
doesn't support PT100 temperature sensors, you will not be able to
configure such a sensor; if you have installed a Distributed I/O, you will be
unable to activate the manual override function. Standard functions can be
used with any device which has been switched on.
As delivered to you, the package contains the following articles:
one XILON Handheld Tool for Wiring Checks (already equipped with a battery
pack consisting of five 1.2 V nickel metal hydride batteries),
one power supply unit and attached cable which can be inserted into the power
supply jack on the top left-hand side of the device and connected to a standard
100...240 Vac power supply socket,
one 1.5-meter-long L
which can be inserted into the LON 1 socket on the top of the device. Two of its
wires can carry LonWorks signals and another two for drawing 24 V current to
power XILON,
one CD-ROM including technical literature such as a PDF file and the terminal
program for upgrading the BIOS and/or the XILON application (see also
"Downloading and Upgrading Honeywell Firmware" on page 31).
These articles are described in greater detail in the following sections.
