failed
Cause
Control panel or PC tool ceased
communicating.
Communication between I/O
module and drive is not working
properly.
Fieldbus option module not sup-
ported.
Overvoltage detected in AI. AI is
changed to voltage mode from
mA mode. AI will return automat-
ically back to mA mode when the
AI signal level is within accept-
able limits.
Mechanical brake control fault.
Activated e.g., if brake acknow-
ledgment is not as expected
during brake closing.
Open conditions of mechanical
brake cannot be fulfilled.
Excitation current feedback low
or missing
Motor is operating in stall region.
Motor current is too high.
Brake resistor broken or not
connected.
Brake resistor temperature has
exceeded the limit.
Brake resistor short circuit or
brake chopper control fault.
Short circuit in brake chopper
IGBT.
Brake chopper IGBT temperat-
ure exceeded internal fault limit.
Mechanical brake control is
faulty. Brake open acknowledg-
ment is not matching the actual
status.
Diagnostics 113
What to do
Check connections. Disconnect and recon-
nect the control panel.
Check the I/O module installation.
Replace the module with a supported type.
Check AI signal levels.
Check mechanical brake connection. Check
mechanical brake settings in parameter
group 44 Mechanical brake control.
Check that the acknowledgment signal
matches the actual status of the brake.
Check mechanical brake settings in paramet-
er group 44 Mechanical brake control.
Check that the acknowledgment signal (if
used) matches the actual status of the
brake.
Contact your local ABB representative.
Check motor load, drive ratings and fault
function parameters.
Check for overloaded motor
Adjust the parameters used for the motor
overload function. (35.51...35.53, 35.55,
35.56)
Check connections and brake resistor dimen-
sioning.
Stop drive. Let resistor cool down. Check
resistor overload protection function settings
and fault limit settings. Check braking cycle
limits.
Check connections.
Check the electrical specifications. Replace
brake chopper.
Let chopper cool down. Check ambient
temperature, cooling fan, air flow, resistor
overload protection function settings, braking
cycle limits and supply voltage.
Check connections, brake settings and
brake acknowledgment signal.
