9.3.2 Steps for Removing Dust from the Optical Interface and Tail
Fiber Connector
Procedure
Step 1 Pull out the optical interface board. Before cleaning the optical interface on the optical
interface board, you should pull out the optical fiber connected to the board. Then, pull out the
optical interface board. It is recommended that this operation be guided by the engineers from
the Global Technical Service Department of Huawei to prevent damage to the interface board
caused by improper operations.
Step 2 Clean the interface and the connector using special tools and materials. To clean the optical
interface of the laser device on the optical interface board and the optical connector, you
should use tools and materials from optical fiber or optical cable manufacturers. For
high-power laser interface, you should clean the interface using cleaning tools and materials.
For low-power laser interface, if special cleaning tools and materials are not available, you
can use anti-static brush that is clean, dry, and mild to clean the laser interface and to remove
the dust.
