The Optical Bypass Module

Inline topologies require connecting both Receive and Transmit fibers to the Cisco SCE8000 GBE.
Cascade ports always require both Receive and Transmit fibers to be connected.
To maintain link continuity at all times, optical bypass modules must be installed on both platforms and
the traffic ports must be connected to these bypass modules.
The Optical Bypass Module
The external optical bypass module is an optional component that provides additional protection by
enabling automatic preservation of the network traffic link. For more information regarding the external
