3. Place the center contact onto the center conductor so
that it butts against the cable dielectric. Crimp the
contact in place using Amphenol tool handle #227-944
and Cavity B of Die Set 227-980-3.
4. Install the cable assembly into the body assembly so
that the inner ferrule slides over the dielectric and
under the braid. Push the cable assembly forward until
contact seats in insulator. Slide the outer ferrule over
the braid and up against the connector body. Crimp the
outer ferrule using Cavity A of tools specified above.
The connector ferrule-to-cable junction can be sealed
and protected using adhesive-lined heat shrink.
The combo antenna provides for an easier, more compact, and more
attractive installation. In many cases, its loop antenna design also
improves the noise rejection of signals that interfere with differential
reception. Be sure to use the locking nut, shown in the figure below, to
prevent rotation of the antenna or bottoming of the mounting stanchion
into the threaded part of the antenna. If done with enough force, either of
these actions may break the antenna.
