Processor serial number and software revision
The serial number of the processor is affixed to the back of the unit and
has been permanently programmed into the unit's database. You can
view this serial number at the
left-hand box of the
with the letter indicate that the unit contains an internal DGPS
differential receiver. The processor's software version is displayed in the
right-hand box.
Beacon receiver self-test and software revision
The 961/962 automatically self-tests the internal beacon receiver, if
installed, each time you power-up the system. The box on the right of the
field displays the software version used by your 961/
962's DGPS receiver (if installed), and the self-test message
on the left. If all test parameters are met, PASS is displayed. If the
differential receiver fails any of the test criteria,
box reads , the 961/962 won't receive DGPS signals; for details about
troubleshooting the DGPS receiver, see "Testing and troubleshooting the
961/962" starting on page 34. In many cases, the reason for the failure is
an open or shorted antenna cable, which can be repaired in the field. If
this isn't the source of the failure, call the Northstar Service Department
for further instructions.
If a beacon receiver isn't installed, this field is blank.
GPS receiver self-test and software revision
The 961/962 automatically self-tests the internal GPS receiver each time
you power up the system. The box on the right of the
field displays the software version used by your 961/962's GPS receiver,
and the self-test message
