18. Tighten or, if necessary, replace the top piece of the bracket and secure with the wing nut.
Do not pinch the tubing with the support bracket, and continue to ensure that there is no
slack in the tubing.
19. Slide the occlusion plate upward and secure the left Allen screw.
20. Attach the two ends of sample pump tubing to either of the two pieces of green restrictor
tubing that lead to the transfer modules (attach the pump tubing about 1/4" onto the
restrictor tubing).
21. Tuck the tubing into the Analyzer so it is out of the way.
22. Record the installation date for the pump tubing in the service log (see Table 18 on
page 193).
23. If you need to replace other consumables, follow the procedures listed in the appropriate
sections of this chapter. Otherwise, close and latch the Analyzer door.
24. Plug in the main power cord and turn the Analyzer on with the main power switch.
25. Enter the installation date for the pump tubing by following the procedures in "Setting the
Installation or Expiration Date for New Consumables" on page 190.
26. GE Analytical Instruments recommends that you now perform a sample flow rate
calibration, as described on page 141.

Replacing the Ion Exchange Resin (Resin Bed)

The ion exchange resin (resin bed) depletes over time. With typical Analyzer use, the resin bed
should be replaced after every 12 months of operation. To replace the resin bed, you will need the
new resin bed; paper towels; and the water bottle from the accessories kit. After replacing the resin
bed, you should perform a Conductivity Autozero, and if you regularly analyze samples with
TOC <50 ppb, a TOC Autozero as well.
The procedure differs slightly depending on whether your Analyzer has the silver-colored bracket or
the brass-colored bracket. Follow the procedure appropriate for your Analyzer's configuration.
