Importing Data into a Spreadsheet Program

The Analyzer exports data in comma-delimited text format to create a .csv file that can be
imported into may spreadsheet or database programs. A common application involves exporting
data from the Analyzer and importing the data into Microsoft Excel. This section describes how to
accomplish this task.
1.
Export data from the Analyzer via one of two methods.
• Export to the Analyzer's USB port and capture the data on a USB flash memory drive.
After exporting the data, remove the USB drive from the Analyzer and attach it to your
computer's USB port. It should appear in your available drive list as a "removable
media drive."
• Export to the Analyzer's serial port and capture the data using a program like
HyperTerminal (for more information on Hyperterminal, see "Using HyperTerminal" on
page 228).
2.
On your computer, launch MS Excel.
3.
Select File
Open.
4.
Set the Files of type drop-down menu to All Files (*.*). Browse to the file containing the
data exported from the Analyzer and click Open. The USB flash drive displays as a
"Removable Disk" in the list of available drives.
5.
If Excel opens the data in a spreadsheet, you do not need to continue with the next steps.
You can work with the file as you would any other Excel file.
