Adding or Removing a Port Channel from a
VLAN
As with other interfaces, you can add Layer 2 port channel interfaces to VLANs. To add a port channel to a
VLAN, place the port channel in Layer 2 mode (by using the switchport command).
To add or remove a VLAN port channel and to view VLAN port channel members, use the following
commands.
Add the port channel to the VLAN as a tagged interface.
INTERFACE VLAN mode
tagged port-channel id number
An interface with tagging enabled can belong to multiple VLANs.
Add the port channel to the VLAN as an untagged interface.
INTERFACE VLAN mode
untagged port-channel id number
An interface without tagging enabled can belong to only one VLAN.
Remove the port channel with tagging enabled from the VLAN.
INTERFACE VLAN mode
no tagged port-channel id number
or
no untagged port-channel id number
Identify which port channels are members of VLANs.
EXEC Privilege mode
show vlan

Assigning an IP Address to a Port Channel

You can assign an IP address to a port channel and use port channels in Layer 3 routing protocols.
To assign an IP address, use the following command.
Configure an IP address and mask on the interface.
INTERFACE mode
ip address ip-address mask [secondary]
ip-address mask: enter an address in dotted-decimal format (A.B.C.D). The mask must be in slash
format (/24).
