CHAPTER 2 OPERATIONS AND TIMING
2.3.2 Detecting the Presence/Absence of an Original
The presence/absence of an original is detected using the original tray paper sensor (S1).
When an original is placed on the original tray, the light between the original tray paper
sensor (S1) and the prism is blocked, causing the original tray paper sensor (S1) to generate
the original detection signal (EMPS).
The DADF controller PC turns on the Original Set indicator (LED101, 102) in response
to the original detection signal (EMPS).

2.3.3 Detecting the Size of Originals

a. Outline
The machine identifies the size of an original in terms of its vertical (feeding direction)
and horizontal directions.
b. Detection in Vertical Direction (feeding direction)
Detection in vertical direction is performed using the registration paper sensor (S3) and
the registration roller clock sensor (S11).
